|Plot||After the victory of anti-Japanese war, Situ Yan, the fiancé of Wen Lan is about to return to Shanghai from Chongqing. Wen Lan is Mrs. Lu's eldest daughter. Both of them are extremently happy because they think he is a carpetbagging bureaucrat who takes over the Japanese propety and is very wealthy. Their little daughter, We Hui is, on the other hand, disgusted with man whom she has never met. When Mrs. Lu and Wen Lan meet Situ Yan and find he is just a poor journalist, they turn out to be very indifferent to him and Wen Lan cancel the engagement with him. One day, Situ Yan reveal a case of corruption on the journal in which Mrs. Lu's brother and all his bosses are involved. On refusing the bribe, Situ Yan is beaten by the outraged malfeasants. But the people is on his side and among them, Wen Hui is his biggest suppporter.
